About Us
Judicial Law Review
I. Introduction
Judicial Law Review is a weekly legal commentary publication dedicated to the rigorous analysis of cases, decisions, and legal developments shaping American law. Founded in Chicago, Illinois in 2026, the publication brings together the perspectives of scholars, students, and practitioners to illuminate the legal questions of our time.
We operate as an open-access publication. Every article, essay, and commentary we publish is freely available to any reader, without subscription, paywall, or registration. We believe that serious legal scholarship should be accessible to all who seek it.
II. Our Mission
The mission of Judicial Law Review is to advance public understanding of American law through independent, rigorous, and accessible legal scholarship. We publish commentary, essays, articles, case notes, and responses that engage seriously with the cases and controversies at the forefront of American jurisprudence.
We are committed to intellectual independence. Our editorial process is guided by scholarly standards, not institutional affiliation or ideological preference. We welcome contributions from across the legal profession and the full spectrum of legal thought, provided they meet our standards for rigor, clarity, and engagement with the law.
III. Our Commitment
Judicial Law Review is committed to the highest standards of legal scholarship. We require that all submissions engage directly with primary legal sources, adhere to Bluebook citation conventions, and present original analysis that advances the scholarly conversation. We do not publish work that has been previously published or that is simultaneously under review elsewhere.
We are committed to the voices of law students and emerging scholars. The legal academy has long recognized that some of its most incisive analysis comes from those closest to their legal education. We actively solicit contributions from J.D. and LL.M. candidates at accredited law schools, and we evaluate all submissions on the merits of their scholarship, without regard to the prestige of the author's institution.
IV. Our Vision
We envision Judicial Law Review as a forum for the kind of sustained, serious legal analysis that the complexity of American law demands. As the courts continue to address questions of constitutional structure, individual rights, regulatory authority, and the relationship between law and society, we aim to provide a publication that meets those questions with the depth and care they deserve.
We publish weekly because the law does not pause. Our commitment to a regular publication schedule reflects our belief that timely legal commentary, when it is rigorous and well-reasoned, serves the legal profession and the public alike. We are building a record of American legal thought, one issue at a time.
